TRACK FACTS Length: 1 mile (certified) Width: Straight-aways 48' and turns 58' Banking Degree: Straights 9 degrees; Turns 24 degrees. Graduations from 9 to 24 degrees scaled at turn entrance and exits. Safety Apron: Encircling inside of track 10' wide on straights and 21' feet in turns. Length of Pit Road: 1,150 feet and 43' wide Number of Pit Positions: 42, each with water and electric Nextel Cup & Busch Garages: 88 stalls total, 12 x 25' - offices for technical inspections officials, chief steward and pit officials - concrete and steel construction. Track Construction: Movement of 525,000 yards of earth - 6000 cubic yards of concrete placed 6-7" thick over the 32,000 square yard racing surface. Safety Apron and Pit Road: The pit road and apron are made of asphalt Pit boxes are made of concrete for a total of 17' wide and 1,200' long. Retaining Wall on Main Straightaway: 1076' long, 399,284 pounds - 3/8" steel boiler plate retaining wall 36" high fastened to 7' girders imbedded in the earth backed by dirt banking. Pit Road Steel Barrier: Same material backed by 7" steel channel. Infield Areas: Lowered in all turns 1, 2, 3 and 4 to allow buildings to be below line of sight.
